Ever wish you could do all those cray cray moves you used to make your toys do? No, me neither, not recently anyway buuuut as a kid I did wish I could be a ninja and now I am. What the hell does this have to do with Danny MacAskill’s Imaginate? Well have a look-see, the guy basically miniaturised himself so that he could pull off insane bike tricks amongst a kid’s toys! Amazeballs. Wait, wait..hold up…. word just in is that he is normal size and the ‘bedroom toy’ set he created is just really big. I guess that makes more sense. Either way, the stuff he does blows the mind, in a good way. Check out below. I love Danny’s surname. I am going to name my child Rennton Freakingawesomeguy Jr. rennton
‘The Beauty of the Irrational’ is a film by the African Attachment, championing the adage: “Bad decisions make good stories.” This short film celebrates fulfilment through sense of self, beautifully. I found that quite emotional. 84km in 6hrs 57mins…. through a canyon. Boom! Ryan Sandes has breathed new life into trail running, particularly for South Africans who now have an international inspiration quick stepping the globe. A phenomenal athlete with a wonderful attitude. arnie
What if Nelson Mandela had access to social media? Great clip for our nation’s greatest man. Happy Birthday Madiba!
If this doesn’t make you heart bulge, your ambitions soar and your thoughts blaze, then you’re doing it wrong. [thanks Aletta] Go see the world! Magic captured by Dana Saint of Gnarly Bay Productions and related by Castulo Guerra
Break out the sex panther, don the polyester, love your lamp and prep your sensors for some psychedelic jazz flute as the greatest news anchor, Ron Burgundy, and his maverick renegade Channel 4 News Team put the wheels in motion for the sequel to Anchorman. arnie
The amount of sagacity in this Lego campaign is staggering. (click to view slides) LEGO CAMPAGNE BY JUNG VON MATT Simply brilliant! arnie
I like this, very much: People are taking the piss out of you everyday. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply you’re not sexy enough and that all the fun is happening somewhere else. They are on TV making your girlfriend feel inadequate. They have access to the most sophisticated technology the world has ever seen and they bully you with it. They are The Advertisers and they are laughing at you. You, however, are forbidden to touch them. Trademarks, intellectual property rights and copyright law mean advertisers can say what they like wherever they like with total impunity. Fuck that. Any advert in a public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. It’s yours to take, re-arrange and re-use. You can do whatever you like with it. Asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head. You owe the companies nothing. Less than nothing, you especially don’t owe them any courtesy. They owe you. They have re-arranged the [&hellip
This Sunday I went to see Johnny Clegg perform at the Kirstenbosch Gardens and I have to say it was pretty firetrucking magical. 3 words … African Sky Blue. For those of you who have not yet witnessed the splendour, beauty and sheer African awesomeness that are the Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts, do yourself a favour and book for next Sunday. Regardless of who is performing. You will love it and I will say this in advance, you’re welcome. Tickets are available at Webtickets and for full deets check out the Old Mutual concerts page. ‘The White Zulu’ as he is affectionately known, is a South Africa music legend and judging by yesterday’s sold out performance is as popular as ever. Johnny C is not just a great performer and songwriter but a story-teller and along with entertaining the masses with a mix of old, new and classic crowd favourites, he had everyone entranced by the stories he told, up on stage. Towards the end of the concert everyone was dancing and singing along. Except for this dude, who decided to rather lay down with his back to the stage and read his book instead. Concerts… you are doing it wrong. [&hellip
Beginning in Dr Seuss’ imagination and finishing in yours. Dr Seuss’ final book riding life’s twists, turns, highs and lows told to us by the whimsical crowd of Burning Man. I love this tale. Can’t wait for our celebration of Afrikaburn 2012!
Recently, a mahussive swell smashed its way though the South Pacific Islands. On the 30th of August, it arrived in Hawaii to mark the last day of summer. Current SUP world champion and Oxbow progression team rider, Kai Lenny, tracked the swell to his secret spot and managed to successfully ride these 15ft pearlers 4 times in 1 day. First paddleboarding, then surfing, windsurfing and finally kitesurfing. It is the first time anyone has achieved this on 15-20ft waves. He is 18 years old. Maverick thumbs up show-off, good sir! [thanks Jon]
