One week down and so very many more to go. Let’s be honest the rugby on display this past weekend in Super Rugby was fairly SHITake average. Yes there were some close games, which is always good to see but it appears that once again new rule interpretations at the break down have stifled running rugby. Note the word “interpretations” as these are not new rules, it is just that the refs have been instructed by the IRB to be very strict at the breakdown for the first few weeks of the tournament. Seems to me that if they want more running rugby they should simplify the breakdown rules so that peeps can be more competitive at the tackle point. I have written a strongly worded letter to Paddy O’ Douche telling him what I think of him and his douche ways but I guess for the time being, the teams and indeed the fans will need to just get used to countless penalties and kicking contests (especially in local derbies). Anyhoo, let’s get down and dirty and face smash our way into this week’s games. Last week’s SuperBru was a bit of a fail but no reason to panic, [&hellip

On Wednesday the Proteas managed to beat New Zealand’s Black Caps in the final T20 game of the series. The beauty of the win was that the Black Caps were so far ahead that they needed less than 6 runs to the over from the 15th over with 7 wickets in hand, which in T20 terms is the proverbial triple decker chocolate cake walk. The game should have been over with 2 overs to spare but the Proteas never gave up, Jess Ryder started to care more about his 50 than his team, Botha and Marchant de Lange bowled quality overs and before you knew it the Black Caps had CHOKED. Put that in your mouth….chew on it…. delicious! Back to more important matters though with 4 Super Rugby games on Saturday. Sat 25th 2012 Chiefs vs Highlanders Sonny Boxer Williams and Aaron Cruden are now playing for the Chiefs and with Lelia Masaga and Richard Kahui they now have one of the most exciting backlines in the competition. Any one of these players can change a game with a piece of individual brilliance but it is in the forwards where the Chiefs are looking a bit vulnerable. They will [&hellip

I like this, very much: People are taking the piss out of you everyday. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply you’re not sexy enough and that all the fun is happening somewhere else. They are on TV making your girlfriend feel inadequate. They have access to the most sophisticated technology the world has ever seen and they bully you with it. They are The Advertisers and they are laughing at you. You, however, are forbidden to touch them. Trademarks, intellectual property rights and copyright law mean advertisers can say what they like wherever they like with total impunity. Fuck that. Any advert in a public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. It’s yours to take, re-arrange and re-use. You can do whatever you like with it. Asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head. You owe the companies nothing. Less than nothing, you especially don’t owe them any courtesy. They owe you. They have re-arranged the [&hellip

Ahh Supe Rugby, how I have missed you. It has been far too long! You are like that old friend that you haven’t seen in years but then when you do,  it is like you were never apart and soon you are drunk together in some random pub talking of times past. Except this year Supe Rugby is from Feb to August with a small break in June for the Incoming Tours…. Whaaaat? Yes I know… glorious. So actually Supe Rugby may end up being like that friend that arrives after living overseas and it is sheer quality to see them again but then your girlfriend starts complaining because he was only meant to stay for a little while but now he is sleeping on your couch and eating all your food and leaving hairs in the shower… With this being the longest Supe Rugby tourney to date, how teams fair will depend largely on squad depth and toit back up personnel in key positions, making development of up and coming talent even more important. For South Africa, the future looks bright, thanks largely due to the Varsity Cup, which has already produced quality players, like Springbok Juan De Jongh [&hellip

[photo: Betty Wants In] If you’ve ever tumbled out of a plane, felt time stand still, lost somewhere between terminal velocity and the infinite, this clip will make your heart swell and your head nod. I can’t think of a better depiction of freedom, complete disentanglement from everything except this utter moment. And that is where we should all exist. arnie

Filmed in Tignes in the Rhône-Alpes region of south-eastern France with Artec pro snowboarder William Hughes in a bespoke LED suit. Aaaah Tignes, where 12 of us sat down to a Raclette banquette and woke up in something resembling the Shining, much too much cheese. Good white-knuckled times, however I digress, this is in fact something quite serene, a gentle float to punctuate your Friday. &nbsp
